Toby Sussex is an indie-pop folk-rock singer-songwriter, based in and frequently seen biking around Pōneke / Wellington. His heartfelt vocals compliment a thoughtfully crafted acoustic and live-looped signature sound. Originally from Whakatū / Nelson, Toby left the sunshine, crossing the windy strait to pursue music in the capital in 2021. In the years following, he has joined multiple bands and collaborated with like-minded artists, producing and releasing a variety of songs both as a soloist and with folk-rock band My Cosmic Girl.

Over recent years, Toby has taken his memorable pop-melodies and folky tendencies to a range of festivals and shows, including Newtown Festival, WCC's Gardens Magic, The Performance Arcade, and an independently organised headline show at The Boathouse in Nelson. In 2024, he released his debut EP Weather Dependent to an exciting response across the motu, even holding a spot on the Student Radio Network's top 10 charts. Since then, Toby hasn’t stopped writing and has a vibrant set of home-grown and folk-fuelled songs which are nearly ready for your ears.
